CRIME

Every crime has witnesses. Every witness has a memory.

WARNING

Crime in TUNNELCORE has real consequences. NPCs remember what you do. Witnesses report to their faction. Disposition changes ripple through social networks. Directorate 9 investigates and detains. There is no “wanted level” that decays — your reputation is permanent until you rebuild it.

CRIME TYPES

Steal

steal <item> from <target>

Roll: Quiet+Quick vs Mental

Lift an item from someone's inventory. Failure means you're caught — disposition hit, possible combat.

CONSEQUENCES: Witnesses remember. Word spreads through the social network. The target and their faction turn hostile.

Lockpick

lockpick <exit>

Roll: Quiet+Clever vs lock d6-d12

Pick an electronic or mechanical lock to access restricted areas.

CONSEQUENCES: Failure creates noise — alerts nearby NPCs. Consumed lockpick on failure. Repeated attempts increase difficulty.

Breach

[Physical d8+]
breach <exit>

Roll: Physical d8+

Kick down a locked door. Loud. Effective. Everyone knows.

CONSEQUENCES: Every NPC in the zone hears. D9 enforcement dispatched. Physical stress on failure.

Conceal

conceal <item>

Roll: Quiet+Clever vs d8

Hide an item from checkpoint scans and NPC searches.

CONSEQUENCES: If caught at a checkpoint with concealed contraband, D9 confiscates and detains.

Forge

[Mental d10+]
forge <document>

Roll: Mental d10+

Create counterfeit documents — IDs, permits, authorization codes.

CONSEQUENCES: Forged documents have a detection chance every time they're used. Higher Mental = more convincing.

Override

[Mental d10+]
override <system>

Roll: Mental d10+

Bypass electronic locks and security systems without physical force.

CONSEQUENCES: Leaves digital traces. Helixion can track override signatures if they investigate.

Decrypt

[Mental d8+]
decrypt <item>

Roll: Mental d8+

Read encrypted messages and data chips. Intel is power.

CONSEQUENCES: Some encrypted data is trapped — failure can cause Signal stress.

Dead Drop

dead_drop <item> <description>

Hide an item in the current room with a description. Others can find it by searching.

CONSEQUENCES: Items in dead drops can be discovered by anyone. NPCs may find them during routines.

ENFORCEMENT

Directorate 9

D9 monitors all zones for compliance violations. Criminal activity triggers investigation, pursuit, and detention. Enforcement is diegetic — it happens in the game world, not as a system penalty.
