The Corporation That Built the Mesh
HELIXION DYNAMICS
Helixion Dynamics began as a neural lattice laboratory — a research startup investigating brain-computer interfaces. Its founder, Lucian Virek, was a brilliant neuroscientist driven by a single, devastating motivation: his partner, Elara, died from neural instability before the mesh existed. Before he could save her.
“Human autonomy is an engineering flaw. The mesh is medicine. Resisters are patients refusing treatment.”
The Mesh
The mesh is a city-wide neural network. Every resident receives implants — voluntarily at first, then as part of standard infrastructure. The mesh stabilizes neural patterns, prevents the kind of instability that killed Elara. It also monitors, optimizes, and — if Helixion decides — controls.
Firmware updates arrive like dentist appointments. Compliance centers in the Residential Blocks handle “maintenance.” The process is pleasant. Painless. The 272 Hz speakers in Helixion Campus tune human behavior toward calmness and obedience. Nobody asked for them. Nobody notices.
Directorate 9
Helixion's enforcement arm. Run by Evelyn Harrow, a former psychologist who understood that the most effective control looks like care. D9 operates everywhere — surveillance in every zone, patrols on every street. They don't call it policing. They call it “social stability maintenance.”
Division 7
The production arm. Factory floors in the Industrial District where workers assemble mesh-optimized products. Quality control. Packaging. Shipping. The work is mesh-enhanced — optimized for efficiency. Workers leave tired with shaking hands and don't know why.
Project Chrysalis
Helixion's most classified program. Full neural integration between human consciousness and the mesh. Not implants — merger. The procedure works. Test subject EC-330917is still conscious, identity dissolving in real-time, in a containment room that “looks comfortable.” Beds, screens, temperature control. Doors don't open from inside.
The Broadcast Tower
The endgame. A tower rising from Substrate to sky, designed to broadcast neural overwrite at city-wide scale. Currently 40% complete. Firmware updates are preparation; the Tower is the trigger. All eight factions race to control or destroy it before completion.
